RE: The criminal mind (or lack thereof)

There was a situation that happened many years ago when I was working in Dallas. One of the streets by downtown Dallas, Industrial, is lined with beer stops and liquor stores. Across the river is Oak Cliff, at the time "dry", no liquor or beer sales in the area.
One day I was out for lunch and saw a very strange site in the middle of the day. It seemed that some "enterprising individuals" decided to steal a beer truck while it was unloading at one of the beer stops on Industrial.
These "enterprising individuals" drove the beer truck back across the river to an apartment complex in Oak Cliff and proceeded to unload the beer truck in the middle of the day. Two patrol cars of Dallas's finest were leaving the diner when I was and looked down the street to see them wheeling cases of beer into apartment and just shook their heads. :H
They left the parking lot with lights flashing and busted the guy. A couple of days later I talked to one of the officers at the same diner and she said "They weren't too smart pulling a beer truck into a dry area of Dallas in the middle of the day, the truck kind of stuck out like a sore thumb."
I guess they (the criminals) didn't think about their area being dry and a beer truck would stand out just a little bit.

RE: Q - Cedar Hill State Park near Dallas

Hi Kathy,
The "Eagle Ford" and "Shady Ridge" camping areas both have sites on the lake. Most of the sites we've stayed at in the park has been fairly roomy and should accommodate your rig.
I'm not sure if you've ever stayed at Loyd Park, it's across the lake from Cedar Hill State Park. It's a COE park run by the City of Grand Prairie. We much prefer it to the state park. They too have great sties right on the lake. We like, 58, 60, 62, 66 and 68.
Loyd Park
Take care,
Chuck

RE: Burger calories

Looking at those numbers makes you kind of stop and think twice about what you're ordering. Wow, some of them are really packed with calories.

RE: Water heater temp. adjustment?

Here's a link to the adjustable model.
Adjustable Thermostat
Below is a link to the installation video on the RV Blog site:
RV Today Archive - RV Thermostat Replacement
Good luck, now that I've found all the parts, I'll be taking care of the replacement very soon on our trailer.

RE: Water heater temp. adjustment?

Nope the factory thermostats are pre-set at 140°, and you're correct, the water is way too hot. There was a segment on RV Today, that showed them replacing the pre-set thermostat and replacing it was an adjustable one. From what I remember it wasn't a difficult job.

RE: Flag Poles (where to buy)

This is probably what you're talking about.
We decided to get this one instead. We mounted ours on our back ladder. We've had it over 2 years now and it's just like brand-new.
We purchased our flag pole at our local Camping World store.

Skid Row Joe, that's one of my all time favorites. I never get tired of listening to the theme from "Shaft". Issac will definitely be missed.

RE: Anti sway or not?

Like all the other posters, you DO need a weight distribution system combined with anti-sway. You need to be safe when you're towing. Happy RVing and travel safe.

RE: Powering your laptop

I installed a 1000w inverter that we picked up at a truck stop. We only paid around $100 for it. I wired it directly to one of my F250's batteries. It does a great job for us. My laptop charger requires a lot of power and a low-end inverter wouldn't work.

RE: Webpage hosting?

There's lots of good hosting services out there. Personally, I've used Ready Hosting for years now and have been very happy with the results.

RE: TT Refrigerator

Yes, I've found in the past, that cooling down a refrigerator is much more efficient than using electricity. We normally turn our refrigerator on 3-4 days before a trip. We do have electricity at our storage facility.

RE: Glen Rose Texas area info?

Dinosaur Valley State Park is a very nice facility. There's also a lot to see and do at the park. Sites are typical for the Texas State Parks, some of the sites are very nicely shaded.
Below is a link to our July 2005 trip, there's pictures of the park and our site.
Dinosaur Valley State Park - July 2005
Also Fossil Rim is a great wildlife viewing park and drive-through. You'll have a good time. There are some excellent BBQ and home-cooking restaurants in Glen Rose. We ate at Ranchhouse BBQ and it was absolutely incredible, it's rated as one of the top 50 BBQ joints in Texas.

RE: mattress

The folks at PPL are great to deal with.
We've got a Sleep Number Bed at home and absolutely love it. DW's parents and SIL both have Sleep Number Beds in their RV's, they swear on them.
In our trailer we use a 3" memory foam topper, it works out perfectly for us.
